Now I LOVED our first home. 910 N Damen Avenue was a gorgeous first space for us filled with memories of producing 100’s of events over the course of 4.5 years.
To be honest though – we needed space. BAD. But it had to be just right. A space where we could hold multiple Client meetings at once. A space for our growing planning team (just wait until you meet our sweet new Kendall!). A space for our growing design and floral business. A space in the city that was easy and central for our Clients to get to and dare I say it…park!
After dozens of commercial real estate tours, meetings and just plain sad showings, I FOUND HER. She had potential…but she wasn’t cute.
I saw past that.
Welcome to 1000 N North Branch in Chicago’s Goose Island area.
Designing countless spaces for my clients brought me to this point of designing this building to be perfect for CJDE. I saw past the popcorn walls (ugh) 80’s windows (yikes) and so many walls, bathrooms and urinals you would have just screamed.
For the past 7 months I put on my best Joanna Gaines hat on and reviewed floor plans. Met with GC’s. Managed the build out turn large design undertaking…all on the “down low” as we had events to produce! And an old studio to move out of.
Now I promised our photography friend Brittany Bekas Photography I would only credit her with shooting the “ugly” before photos if they were paired with beauty of the after. And we did just that.
Two weeks ago we had the joy of launching this space to our vendors and friends (those 3 epic parties to come next!).
I poured my heart and soul into this space because I know it’s going to give it’s heart and soul right back. To our Clients. To our industry. To our studio mate (and fellow painter / Home Depot lover / interior designer) LBrown Design & Paperie.
Welcome to our new home. I can’t wait to have you in for a cup of coffee or coupe of champagne.
